On December 2nd there will be held the screening of “Comets” (2014) by Georgian director Tamar Shavgulidze, a film about the love affair between two women. The film takes part in a national competition of Tbilisi International Film Festival.
Three screenings are scheduled during the film festival. The tickets of all the screenings are sold out.
Tamar Shavgulidze’s film “Comets” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada. The film was selected in the competition Discoveries section.
The film stars Ketevan Gegeshidze, Nino Kasradze, Kato Kalatozishvili, Nina Mazodieri and Mariam Iremashvili.
Nana (55) and Irina (55) were childhood friends. In their teenage years, they understood that there was something more than friendship between them. People around them got aware of this too and their lives became unbearable, which is why Irina left Nana and went abroad. Nana had stayed in Tbilisi. She was married and had two children. She had neglected all her friends and had dedicated her life to her family. Years later, Irina returns in Tbilisi – and the reason is Nana. Women meet at the summer house, where they spent their best years together.
Born in 1980 in Tbilisi. In 2002, she graduated from Georgian Shota Rustaveli State University of Theatre and Film, Faculty of Film Directing (Dato Janelidze’s workshop). She made her feature film debut with BORN IN GEORGIA (Dabadebulebi sakartveloshi), in 2011. Comets is her second feature film which was developed with the support of the Georgian National Film Center.
