May 17 is one of the 365 days during which we experience all the challenges and successes that the citizens of Georgia face in the conditions of economic, social, cultural and political inequality.
May 17, as an International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, is a rare day when attention of politicians, the media, and the public are drawn to the LGBTQ+ community since 2013 as LGBT community tried to mark this day as a symbol of possibility for freedom of expression. However, this date has become a date of controversy and conflict.
Tomorrow, when we continue our daily routine we still face inequalities and challenges. And we hope that we’ll appreciate equality that we all need so much, including us – LGBTQ+ community.
That is why we share this video created not for May 17 but for all the days, all the moments when we will face inequality and oppression at work, at home, on the street, in the education system, in the hospital, in prisons etc.
Remember that by our indifference, hostility, negativity or intolerance towards inequality, we are deepening the gap between the members of our society that is disconnecting us and confronting each other.
We share with you this video in the hope that equality is a value that will unite us against common oppression and inequality, for each other.
