Two doctors who were accused by citizen of Egypt of mistreating his father were given a written warning.
On February 26, 2019, the citizen of Egypt residing in Georgia requested legal assistance from Equality Movement, explaining that his father was placed in the National Center for Surgery, where he was not receiving proper medical attention and was seeking help.
Although Equality Movement does not work in this direction, the applicant is a member of the LGBT community, had to fled from the country of origin because of different faiths and sexual orientations. His father, who lived in Egypt, was temporarily in Georgia where his health condition deteriorated and was hospitalized.
Lawyers of Equality Movement applied to the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, as well as to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to the office of Public Defender of Georgia.
Lawyers of Equality Movement have made numerous complaints to the relevant institutions. After prolonged procedures, the aforementioned agencies studied the case and informed us that at the 13th meeting of the Professional Development Council they had discussed the responsibility of the doctors of National Center for Experimental and Clinical Surgery. The council issued a “written warning” to doctors M.G. and N.L.
