Georgia, Tbilisi – The Man accused of sexual assault and robbery of a transgender woman is arrested, lawyers of Equality Movement are defending interests of a victim.
On August 12, Transgender woman applied to Equality Movement for assistance, claiming that after voluntary sex her partner offered her involuntary sex, but her refusal made him aggressive.
The accused, at gunpoint, forced the woman to engage in undesirable sexual contact with him and demanded money. Simultaneously, the accused verbally abused her with transphobic and homophobic remarks.
Lawyers of Equality Movement provided Transgender woman with consultation and accompanied her during the inquiry at the police station. The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation, the abuser is remained in custody.
The case is being investigated in accordance with Articles 179, 137 and 236 (robbery, sexual abuse and illegal possession of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
