A gay man contacted Equality Movement in January 2018 and claimed he was in one of the villages of Kakheti, where homophobic neighbors burst into his rented house. They destroyed the furniture and beat him up, although the boy managed to escape.
Local police officers at the police station were forcing him to write an explanatory letter which said he didn’t have any complaints about the neighbors, calling him to reconcile.
Because of Equality Movement and Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association getting involved, the local police launched an investigation.
