Man Found Guilty After Assaulted and Robbed Trans Woman


A man accused of robbery and sexual assault to a transgender woman has been sentenced five years imprisonment.

Transgender woman applied to the Equality Movement on August 12 for legal aid. She informed us that she had voluntary sex with an unknown person. thereafter, the person insisted on her to have an unwanted sexual intercourse, but she refused.

The accused, at gunpoint, forced the woman to engage in unwanted sexual contact and demanded cash. At the same time, the person allegedly verbally abused her with transphobic and homophobic remarks.

Lawyers of the Equality Movement provided her with consultation and assistance during the police inquiry. The Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation and demanded that the defendant having been remained in custody.

Investigations were ongoing into robbery (Article 179), rape (Article 137) and other acts of a sexual nature (Article 138). The defendant was found guilty of the charges and was sentenced five years imprisonment, including three years in prison and two years of probation.
